I’m working really hard on my self care: are you?

Well, here in the UK we are onto round 2 of lockdown and many people are starting to buckle under the pressure. Stress, anxiety and uncertainty are on the minds of thousands.

To tackle this pandemic we must do what is necessary, so we can return to some kind of normality as soon as we can.

The mental health of the whole world is at stake and it is an issue that we must take seriously. My mental health has suffered greatly in the past months but I am working on it and will do my best to keep it as healthy as I can.

Below are a just few ways that have helped me through these trying months and I hope they help you as much as they did me.

1/ Routine

I always find my life goes along more smoothly when their is routine. So, each day, I go to bed and get up at the same time. This totally helps my natural sleeping rhythms. I also have a notebook beside me while I am working, so I can write down ideas, inspiration and things I need to do as I think of them. This way I’m not stressing about them floating around in my head. Another part of my routine is to track my habits. I never realised how important it was for me to do this and it has given some fascinating insights into my behaviour. For example I track my fluid intake and realised that I was not drinking near enough. It is amazing I wasn’t severely dehydrated. I also track my sleep, my spending, weight loss etc.

2/ Bucket list

Personally, I would rename this ‘back to reality wish list’. I have been writing down all the things I want to do as soon as things get back to normal: things like, travel and stay in Wales for a week, go shopping in Paris for a weekend, go to a beauty parlour, have a night out with friends and many more. It doesn’t matter how small your wishes are. Writing them down will give you hope and something to look forward to. I even have a business bucket list for all those dreams to make my business grow.

3/ Be grateful

Every morning while I am having breakfast, I write down three things I am grateful for in my gratitude journal. This has been so helpful to me because it has kept me grounded and reminded me of the small things.

4/ Read

I am working through my Amazon wish list of books at the moment. The books I choose to read have to lift me up, make me think and leave me feeling positive. My book of the moment is “Mindset by Carol Dweck”
